What You're Becoming

The Power of Small Choices

There are moments in life that seem insignificant while they're happening but end up shaping who we become. A five-minute conversation. A habit we decide to skip "just this once." A small act of kindness. A quiet compromise. Rarely do our lives change because of one dramatic event. More often, they are shaped by the small, repeated choices we make every day.

The Bible reminds us that spiritual growth works much the same way. We don't wake up one morning deeply rooted in Christ, nor do we suddenly find ourselves far from Him. The direction of our lives is formed one decision, one priority, and one daily habit at a time. That's why Scripture places such an emphasis on abiding in Christ, renewing our minds, and faithfully walking with Him day after day.

Becoming Before Doing

It's easy to become focused on the visible moments of faith—Sunday worship, serving in a ministry, or attending a Bible study. Those are important, but they are sustained by something much deeper: the quiet, unseen work God does within us. Long before our faith is visible to others, it is being cultivated in the ordinary moments when we choose prayer over distraction, Scripture over noise, forgiveness over bitterness, and obedience over convenience.

The encouraging news is that God is far more interested in who you are becoming than simply what you are accomplishing. He patiently shapes His children through everyday faithfulness. As we consistently spend time in His presence, our hearts begin to reflect His heart. Our attitudes change. Our priorities shift. Our love for others grows. What begins beneath the surface eventually becomes visible in the way we live.

An Invitation for This Week

This week, don't measure your spiritual life only by what others can see. Ask God to continue His quiet work within you. Trust that every moment spent with Christ is forming you into the person He created you to be. The greatest transformations often begin where no one else is looking.

As you walk through this week, ask yourself a simple question: "Who am I becoming?" The answer isn't found in a single decision but in the daily direction of your heart. Stay close to Jesus, and over time you'll discover that the person He is shaping beneath the surface becomes the person the world sees on the outside.

Watch the Sermon

If this week's reflection has encouraged you, we invite you to continue the journey by watching this Sunday's message, "UNDERCURRENT," from our The XII series. Together we'll discover how the unseen currents of the heart shape the direction of our lives—and how Jesus calls us to remain anchored in Him.

Watch the sermon video below, then share it with someone who could use the encouragement. We pray it strengthens your walk with Christ and draws you closer to the One who transforms us from the inside out.
