1. Who should be baptized?
The Bible says that anyone who has sincerely placed their faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life should be baptized (immersed). Acts 8:36-38
You should respond in obedience to God and be baptized if:
A. You have not been baptized (immersed) since you accepted Christ.
or
B. You were baptized by a method other than immersion. (We are not doubting the importance of your original baptism, but as Baptists, we believe the Biblical
way is by immersion.)
or
C. When you were baptized, you thought that baptism was part of receiving eternal life. Baptism does not save us.
2. What is baptism?
Baptism is really a picture of your new life in Christ. You are identifying yourself before others as a member of God’s Forever Family (Romans 6:4). The Bible teaches that baptism is not essential to have eternal life, but rather it is a step of obedience to Christ’s command after we have received Jesus into our life and an important part of your public profession of your decision to follow Jesus.
3. Baptism by Immersion is a requirement of church membership.
Our church is a fellowship of believers in Jesus Christ. Each of our members have been obedient and followed Christ in baptism by immersion. Baptism by immersion at a "sister" baptist church is accepted for church membership. "Sprinkling", christening, infant/baby baptism are not considered as Biblical methods of baptism and as a result are not accepted for church membership in the Baptist church. Baptism from other denominations typically are not accepted for church membership and require baptism into our fellowship. If you are from another denomination, a counseling session should be scheduled with the Pastor in order to determine the need for church membership.
4. Church Membership is not automatic based on baptism.
Your baptism is a spiritual matter to a matter of membership. We welcome you into our fellowship as a church member after your baptism, if you so desire to be a member of our church. Baptism is considered your first step in your new journey as a Christian.
5. When can I be baptized?
After you personally accepted the free gift of Salvation by accepting Christ as your Savior and repenting of your sin. This is to be made public by sharing with the Pastor your decision or stepping forward in one of our worship services.
On the day of your baptism, please meet with the Pastor at 9:45 Sunday morning in his office. If you have any questions, please call the church office at 444-2390.
What should I bring?
A pair of shorts to wear during baptism and a change of clothes for after your baptism. The church will provide you a t-shirt to be baptized in. It will be at your meeting with the Pastor. The T-shirt is yours to keep. Your change of clothes will be needed after baptism. You will exit the baptistry and proceed to the restroom to dry-off, change your clothes and rejoin us in worship as soon as you are ready. Please re-enter by the wooden doors on the front porch (weather permitting).
