The Thrilling Truth – Part 3
    By: (All)
We continue our journey through the book of Romans, Chapter 4.  As Paul uses the "ultimate" illustration of Father Abraham, he is able to relay that true believers are justified divine power, not human effort.  This sermon completes the 3 part mini-series, "The Thrilling Truth" where we learn that is not by works, not by law, nor by human effort we are saved but by faith alone.

    The Thrilling Truth Part 2
We continue in our short series "The Thrilling Truth."  What a tremendous truth to know that we do not have to work for our salvation - simply genuinely believe and confess Jesus as our Lord.  All other religions are works based religions.  Hinduism takes a plunge in the Ganges River to be cleanses from sin. Jews during the time of Paul required circumcision in order to enter heaven.  Catholics place their faith in baptism, communion and other sacraments as requirements for salvation.  We are challenged by Paul to throw of the chains of legalism and put our faith in Jesus alone.

    The Thrilling Truth Part 1
Romans, Chapter 4 is a thrilling to truth for those that are trying to earn the favor of God.  Paul, using Abraham as the illustration, proves that Abraham, as well as everyone, is saved by faith and not works, saved by God's grace and not by the Law and finally saved by God's divine power, not by human effort.

    No, Not One
In Romans chapter 3, the Apostle Paul focuses our attention on four things that all humanity has in common: The undeniable fact of SIN; the fact that God loves everyone; the fact that the power and purpose in the Cross of Christ is for everyone; and all humanity is saved through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

    Taking Advantage of God’s Goodness
In Romans 2 our studies turn to the moralist.  Those individuals who do right, who do good yet have the wrong motives in their heart.  Paul tells us that this includes people of religion and we/they also have no excuse and are fooling themselves if they feel they are escaping God's judgment.  These individuals take God's goodness for granted and presume that they will be okay when in fact they are simply heaping God's wrath upon themselves day after day after day.

    Remembering America
On Memorial Day we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice fighting for and defending freedom and democracy.  As we continue in our study of Romans, we ask ourselves is the America today the America for which these soldiers fought and died.  Romans 1:18-32 clearly shows that we have abandoned God in our nation. As a result, God's wrath is being placed upon our nation - but it's not too late to return to God. It begins with us!

What Do You Do When the World is Watching You
What do you do when the whole world is watching you?  Paul tells us that in all of life's situations and circumstances we are not to be ashamed of the Gospel.  It is the power of God for salvation of everyone.  Just as Rev. Curry shared the Gospel with the whole world during the most recent Royal Wedding, we too are to be telling that Jesus died to save us all.  Romans 1:16-17.

I’ve Got Spirit, How ’bout You?
Growing up we celebrated our special sporting events with a week-long celebration called "Spirit Week."  During this week we would have a cheer where we would chant back and forth with classmates, "I've got spirit. Yes, I do.  I've got spirit. How 'bout you?"  In today's sermon we see Apostle Paul's heart for the Roman church.  In his desire to come to Rome he is serving God in his spirit.  He serves with spirit, with energy, with excitement and a sense of obligation to God for his gift of salvation.  If you listen, you can hear Paul challenging us with that same cheer - "I've got spirit - how 'bout you?"

    Obedience of Faith
Obedience is often the part left out of our salvation experience.  We are not only to trust Jesus as our Savior but also we MUST trust Him to be our Lord.  Jesus even said, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments."  Obedience of faith is the evidence of our repentance.  Real Believers, Really Obey!
